ReflectionI went into this project looking to explore what It might mean to be a designer and to see what I could do with a sewing machine. I did this and more! I learned about the industry of fashion design, that it is very important to go to school for design if you want to break into the industry. My two main challenges during this project were time management and frustration. Working on my own schedule was great, but it meant that when I worked I didn't have to be consistent. I ended up working just a couple hours one day and 12 or 13 the next which was not the most efficient, balanced, or sustainable system. Also, sewing can be very frustrating; the machine needle kept breaking, the machine kept coming unthreaded, seems were bunching. I managed it well though. The nice thing about working by yourself on your own time is you can try whatever it is that you are working on as many times as you want. Patience and adaptation were key throughout this project. Lots of things had to change throughout the process of making my line. My original designs were not what I ended up with. The exact timing of this project wasn't what I had originally planned. In the end, though everything worked out. the line came out with a good look and now I have a portfolio of my work. I intend to continue working with this passion throughout high school and life. I am considering doing to design school for college but if not definitely majoring in design.
